How long is the Health Information Management program, and is it online, hybrid, or on-campus?
Health Information Management is a 100% online certificate program that takes approximately 39 weeks and consists of 780 clock hours and 53 quarter credits. Applied learning is incorporated throughout the program through faculty-supervised simulations, case studies, coding exercises, electronic health record activities, data analytics projects, compliance scenarios, and other online applied learning activities.
How much does the Health Information Management program cost, and what is included?

What will I learn in the Health Information Management program?
Seven courses cover health information management foundations, electronic health records and data systems, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding, healthcare law and compliance, healthcare data analytics and quality improvement, health information technology applications, and a capstone project.

What are the laptop or home computer tech requirements for my training program?
Students provide their own laptop or home computer and need daily access to it, plus reliable high-speed internet and an active email account. Recommended minimums: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11, or one of the three latest macOS versions; a 4th generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 or newer (or AMD equivalent), or an Apple computer from 2013 or newer; 4 GB of RAM; and a screen resolution of at least 1024×768. All SCC programs use the Canvas learning management system (LMS). Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, Basic Nursing Assistant, Health Information Management, and Medical Administrative Assistant also use Elsevier, which requires a Windows or Mac computer — a Chromebook, tablet, or phone is not enough.
