How SCC admissions works
The admissions process at SCC is designed to help prospective students understand what each program asks of them academically, clinically, and on a schedule. We enroll students into our practical nursing, basic nursing assistant, medical assistant, medical administrative assistant, and phlebotomy technician programs throughout the year.
Four steps to enroll
- Request information so an admissions representative can reach out and answer your questions.
- Meet with admissions in person or by phone to review program requirements and start dates.
- Complete the application and submit required documentation (ID, high school diploma or GED, any program-specific health and background items).
- Confirm eligibility and finalize your enrollment paperwork ahead of your cohort start.
General requirements (all programs)
- At least 17 years old at the time of enrollment
- Government-issued photo ID
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Admissions interview with an SCC representative
Program-specific requirements
Practical Nursing
Requires a criminal background check and current health documentation including tuberculosis testing and hepatitis B vaccination. Clinical placements depend on completing these in advance.
Basic Nursing Assistant
Five-week training program with bedside-care clinicals. Requires basic health documentation and a background check before clinical rotation.
Medical Assistant
Hybrid program (in-person labs + online didactics). Externship placement requires up-to-date immunizations and a background check.
Medical Administrative Assistant
100% online, asynchronous program. Requires reliable internet access and a personal computer; no clinical placement, so no immunization paperwork.
Phlebotomy Technician
Hands-on training in clinical and laboratory settings. Requires immunization records and a background check ahead of the externship phase.

How much does it cost to attend, and is financial aid available?
