Accredited

Accreditation

SCC is institutionally accredited by ABHES and authorized to operate in Illinois by IBHE.

Accreditation and authorization

State Career College holds two key approvals that matter for students: institutional accreditation through ABHES and state authorization through IBHE.

ABHES — institutional accreditation

SCC is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accreditor specializing in health education institutions. ABHES accreditation is the basis for SCC students to access federal financial aid and is renewed through periodic site visits and self-study reviews.

IBHE — state of Illinois authorization

SCC is approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), Division of Private Business and Vocational Schools. IBHE authorization is required for any private postsecondary institution operating in Illinois and is the consumer-protection layer that backs each program SCC offers.

Verify accreditation status

You can verify SCC's current accreditation status through ABHES at https://www.abhes.org/ and IBHE at https://www.ibhe.org/. Both bodies publish member directories that include SCC.
